Homemade Almond Milk Recipe

Be careful not to cook it for too long, or it will caramelize. Take handful of almonds and start blending them in a mixer grinder at a slow speed. To increase digestion and nutrition, soak 2 cups of almonds in water with 1 1/2 teaspoons of salt for about 8 hours. Stopping and scraping or breaking up any large clumps will help to quicken the process. We have a 12-cup food processor, which is perfect for three cups of almonds. Three cups also makes 16-ounces of almond butter, which is equivalent to the standard size of nut butter jars purchased from the store. Almonds can be roasted to increase the flavor as well as making it more palatable for eating.

You can also add 1/4 cup of melted coconut oil and/or dates, maple syrup, honey, or sweetener of choice. If you prefer a smoother almond butter with a less sticky feeling in your mouth, this second method is for you! Add 1/4 cup or so of melted coconut oil at the “meal” stage.

As much as we have written about almond oil, it is an easily adulterated commodity. Hence, if you have the time and patience, we definitely suggest making almond oil at home. This will give you the purest form of almond oil that will nourish your skin thoroughly.
